Getting ready to go on a trip? Or just running around town?Travel is my passion! Anyone who knows me knows this and it is well evidenced on my FB and other social media. Ironically that is also how I was introduced to essential oils and some of their benefits and so I'd like to share my favourites with you and give you a little surprise offer at the end if you also want to change the way you feel when travelling! When I first started using oils I was travelling a lot! Lavender and Peppermint became my lifelines, but I didn't know anything about purity of oils or how they affect the human body etc. All I knew was Lavender helped me calm and rest and Peppermint helped my water even in places where it tasted awful, and helped my stomach calm down on really long hot and not flat bus trips (it also helps in places where it smells bad and you don't want to make a scene). After a few years of working with oils my collection has grown and so has my knowledge. I am now much more particular about the quality of my oils (doTERRA for a win) and how I use them. And I've learnt a few things about how not to use them as well. I'll share some tips a little further down on how I use them. Pictured above is one of my favourite ways of traveling with oils, it clips onto your bag and as they're all mini bottles that you can refill yourself so you don't have to worry about travel allowances on planes and they will last you for any regular trip. I have one clipped to my purse all the time cause you never know when you might need one. The Top row are the top 10 oils which are the basics for my home use and travel options, add to that the 4 added underneath and the sanitizing mist and I'm ready to go. For a full list of oils and their benefits please see HERE. What I use these for. . .
Don't forget to make sure you're taking good supplements to keep you at your best and hydrate! Don't wait til you feel thirsty, by then you're already dehydrated (and coffee, beer and wine don't help ;) ) I use doTERRA's Life Long Vitality Pack. All I need and more in a monthly set and I've never felt better, and I don't have to go to the store and figure out which expensive combination to get. Just make sure you start taking them a little before you travel so your body has time to detox first. A few IMPORTANT tips with oils (Official Safety Points):
I hope this has given you some useful things to think about, it's definitely changed the way I travel and I can take so many less items with me! If you have kids there are also some awesome blends for kids available too!
Now for the Special Offer: Since I not only use these oils but have a business in them I'd like to help you on your travel journey. If you subscribe as a new customer with doTERRA in Australia or NZ under my ID#4370880 before March 31, 2020 with the Home Essentials Kit shown above (or larger), I will give you:
Thanks for journeying with me and please message me with any questions :) Happy travels!

In light of stores running out and people wanting options, here are some recipes you can make at home. . .I have picked these up from some online sites and adapted them for the NZ market, but they are good for use in other countries too. Take your pick and enjoy adapting the scent to your liking. I use doTERRA Essential Oils for their purity and quality. If you want to know how to get them fell free to send me an email and I'd be happy to help. Or you can order directly HERE. Or if you simply don't have time or energy you can also order our ready made options. . . check out On Guard sanitizing mist. Recipe 1. . . smaller quantity good for travel and a bit more liquid styleBasic info: Non oily feel, great when travelling or just running around town. Lavender– known for its antibacterial and antiviral properties and relaxing scent. Tea Tree Oil – known to be antifugal, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antiviral, and antibacterial. Lemongrass Oil – known to be antibacterial and antifungal, also with a great scent. Aloe vera gel: known to be antibacterial and antifungal and it does double duty as a moisturizer. Vitamin E: Moisturizer and helps keep recipe fresh. If you’re not a fan of lavender, choose another antibacterial oil such as rosemary, sage, sandalwood, or peppermint. Ingredients:
You can even make a bigger batch and keep it for home use! Shelf life is a couple of months at least. **Please note essential oils are extremely potent, please be careful when mixing and wash hands after to avoid any reactions with full strength oils. Recipe 2. . . Larger quantity and more gel like consistencyIngredients:
Add essential oils and Vitamin E oil to a small glass bowl or container (do not use plastic) and swirl to mix. Add alcohol or witch hazel to the oils and swirl again. Combine this mixture with the aloe vera gel and mix well. Shake gently before each use. (Sanitizer should last several months with the addition of Vitamin E and alcohol to help preserve.) Transfer hand sanitizer to small clean coloured bottles so the essential oils are not exposed to light. You could also mix up a batch and keep in a container with a pump. Important things to note:
Always take care when handling essential oils. They are very concentrated, powerful plant extracts. If you are new to using essential oils you may want to test for an allergic reaction before slathering on this homemade hand sanitizer. As with any natural plant, family members could be allergic. For a simple patch test mix one drop of essential oil with about 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Rub a bit on the inside of your elbow, cover with a bandage, and wait 24 hours to see if there is any negative reaction. These are no-nasty chemical options for you versus commercial hand sanitizers that can be full of added chemicals. This homemade hand sanitizer recipe uses NONE of those harmful chemicals and relies on pure essential oils to kill germs. One of the unique qualities of essential oils is that they do not cause bacterial resistance like antibacterial chemicals, and are actually effective in killing strains of bacteria that have become resistant to our man-made medicines and chemicals. (source) November is almost over (eeeek where did the year go???) and the festive season is in full swing. Just about everywhere in the world is celebrating something and if they’re not, the stores are anyway. For people and business owners alike this time of year can get particularly strained as the year winds down. For Americans, Thanksgiving has past and Black Friday has been survived, so now its on to Christmas prep. In the Philippines, Christmas started in September so there is really no excuse for last minute shopping, but since by now the traffic in Manila is so bad you might as well walk, I hope people started early. Hanukkah is next week, so Jews all over the world are getting things ready for a week of celebrations, family time, and sufganiyot (jelly filled donuts). And the list goes on, not to mention New Years is coming so all those resolutions to make. The northern hemisphere is freezing, and the southern hemisphere is coming into summer so they can add in summer holidays, camping and bbq season. I hope you’re not freaking out just from the intro. . . but the business of the end of the year is very real. For many there is the added pressure of finance, loneliness and celebrations that are not the same this year for one reason or another. On the plus side some of those reasons can also be great, celebrating a new babies first Christmas, family together for the holidays, or the new beginnings of a new year. So before the year end leaves you wondering which way is up. Here are a few tips to walk you through this season with a little more sanity. Focus on the people not the things. None of the festive season holidays that I know of were ever defined by stuff, or at least they didn’t start out that way. This season is celebrated with people gathering together, food, celebration, and community. Most small kids enjoy the packaging of their gifts as much if not more than the items, so why ruin the season with jealousy and frustration over who has more? There are also many people out there hurting all year round, and it is often even harder during seasons when everything around shows happy people gathering. So why not make an effort to reach out to someone this festive season. And if gifts are necessary (we all know we have to get a few) look for items that are beneficial to the person, their health, or their wellbeing, not just another item to go on ebay after Christmas, or more sugar. (if you’re going for sugar add in some digestive support too 😊 ) Don’t let the little stuff ruin the season. This time of year is busy, people are tired, and no one seems to have spare time for anything. In the midst of that tempers flare, normally mild and pleasant people become pushy and short tempered, and accidents happen. Add to that all those relatives you can avoid the rest of the year are suddenly very present all at the same time in large gatherings with unfortunate combinations of people. There will be a million little things happening around you that you can let ruin your mood and peace. Someone burnt the food, guests were late for any of 20 events making everyone wait, the dog ate your shoes right before a big event, your car door got bumped at the mall, someone took the item you just had to have. Ultimately the choice of your behaviour is up to you, no matter what crazy is going on around you. If you let the little things get under your skin you will miss all the great things that are also happening. Reunions of old friends, laughter and new memories made, great food, and those little moments that are once in a lifetime. If you need to take a minute and go outside for a few deep breaths, DO IT! No one will die over you taking a minute to centre yourself, but you will definitely lose if you don’t. (Personally I keep a bottle of Lavender oil with me all the time and breath in deeply with a drop or 2 on my palms when things get nutty) Be in the moment, not planning for the next one. With back to back events in the festive season its easy to miss the moment you’re in cause you’re already worrying about the next one. Remember time waits for no man (or woman) and that includes you! You will only get to experience this once, even if you get to relive it forever on Facebook. So make some wise choices (remember Facebook is watching), and don’t miss the special times in the midst of being too busy. Treasure the time with family and friends. Make some new memories by reaching out to others around you. Stop and take some time for yourself. I love to sit down with my diffuser going and I will admit I cheat sometimes and put pine or cinnamon and clove oils to remember the holiday feeling even when it’s not the holiday season 😊. Like in July when it’s cold here in NZ and you’re wondering what it’s like to have a winter Christmas or in Singapore when we just went to the movie theatre cause it was the same temperature. And just take a few minutes to be grateful for what you have, the people in your life, and the memories of those who are no longer here. Fill up your love tank so you can love those around you. So in the midst of it all, don’t forget to enjoy yourself. And remember why you’re celebrating! You’re alive, if you’re reading this you probably have a home, friends and at least a few things to be thankful for. Don’t forget them! Happy Holidays! And if you need some tips for some healthy gift options I’ve included a few below and you’re always welcome to message and ask. Most importantly, Don’t Forget to Breath! How often do you update Instagram, Facebook, Twitter then realize none of this updated your blog? I feel often like I'm swamped in the mire of too many places to update and not enough time to talk to those who are actually people in front of me.
It can be a crazy cycle of balancing life, business, day to day crazy and then wondering how it all vanished in a cloud of smokey confusion. Don't worry we all feel this at times. So for those of you wanting to see my updates more regularly I ask you to come follow me on facebook at www.facebook.com/embarkoils and/or instagram at https://www.instagram.com/embarkoilsnz/ I look forward to seeing you there, and know you are not alone! OK so it's been forever since I wrote a post. Trying to get a business going has taken way more time than I originally anticipated, but I'm learning and enjoying the journey. Just wanted to let you know about this amazing offer for Dec. I already got mine and I'm excited to use them more :)
So as I'm learning all the fun things you can do with essential oils, I realize that some just seem to be able to do so much more than I ever thought. Not only do they smell good, refresh your senses, they can also disinfect your house, flavour your cakes and a million other uses.
For more info on uses check this out on Pinterest. So next time life gives you lemons, you'll have a whole list of things to do with them :) You know that moment when you start a new project, I mean really dive in and say I'm going to go for this with all I've got. . . well this is one of those times. After some serious research and a lot of calculations and moments of wondering can I really do this, I decided to just jump in with both feet.
I have a feeling this is going to take me to places I never would have thought of, but hey for me that's pretty normal and who wants boring anyway. I invite you to join me on my journey with doTERRA and essential oils. Have some laughs, maybe a few cries (gotta watch what's on your hands when you rub your eye), and if you like what you see, maybe join in. It's gonna be fun :) |
